Kuli Holy Rosary Parish

The Kuli Holy Rosary Parish is situated in the Kuli Valley (Anglimp South Wahgi District, Anglimp LLG) of the new Jiwaka Province of Papua New Guinea. The Catholic mission was set up by the Divine Word Missionaries back in the 1930s. The Gospel was spread to the native people over the years and the missionaries have worked ever since alongside the government to provide for basic services for the people including health and education, targeting national and international educational and health aims and objectives for Papua New Guinea.

The Kuli Holy Rosary Parish currently runs a technical vocational school, a lower primary school, an elementary school and a health centre serving the people of the district. Beyond the Kuli Valley lie surrounding villages with out-stations (sub-parishes) consisting of thousands of people who walk or go by car to the station to benefit from services provided by the mission. Kuli Primary School happens to be my former school and my children’s school. Upon returning to the village (home) every holiday, I realise that a library is very much needed. I wish to take up this project to help my people.
